The goal was to vividly capture and share the elegance and tranquility of traditional Korean architecture through advanced 3D visualization technology.

Treasured UNESCO World Heritage Site

Changdeokgung Palace, especially its Secret Garden, is a treasured UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its serene beauty and historical significance. However, physical accessibility and preservation concerns limit public exposure. Our project aimed to overcome these limitations, enabling people worldwide to experience and appreciate this historical landmark's intricate details and beauty through an immersive digital recreation.

What did our process look like

Extensive research was first conducted by analyzing historical records and photographs to precisely replicate the site's architectural authenticity and atmospheric nuances. Primary structures were accurately reconstructed based on detailed 3D scans, ensuring historical precision and architectural integrity. To bring the surrounding environment to life, we integrated high-quality photorealistic assets from Quixel Megascans.

Utilizing Unreal Engine 5’s Nanite technology, we effectively managed complex geometries and high-resolution textures, maintaining optimal performance while preserving intricate details. Furthermore, real-time lighting with Lumen provided dynamic, natural lighting scenarios, significantly enhancing realism and delivering an engaging visual experience.
